Why are we changing our name?

Watch our town hall meeting all about the name change here!

We believe God is calling us to a fresh step forward to reach our community more clearly and effectively. Our current name has created confusion and barriers that keep people from finding our church. After much prayer and unified support from our pastors, staff, and board, we’re stepping into a new name that better reflects who we are and the mission God has given us.

Over the past few months, as our staff and prayer team have sought the Lord, we’ve sensed Him stirring us for needed change in order to move us forward in mission. Through prayer times with our staff, a clear theme emerged: some of our biggest barriers to growth and connection are tied to our current name. Many people in our community assume we are a Catholic church, and when they come looking for that, they quickly realize we’re not — creating confusion and lost opportunities with new comers.

We’ve also recognized that our name no longer fully reflects who we are becoming, and neither does is identify with the people we are seeking to reach out to in our ever-changing community. We are a vibrant church, that is Christ-centered, with a passion to reach the next generation. We want our name to signal to Redmond and beyond that something fresh and life-giving is happening here — that everyone is welcome and no one is too far gone for God’s love.

This decision was not made lightly. Pastor Mark first sought blessing and permission from our former lead pastor, Pastor Tim, who graciously gave his full support. Pastor Jackie affirmed it as well. Our entire staff shared their thoughts and stood in agreement. Then, our board of directors and finance team prayed and discerned together — and they, too, unanimously affirmed this next faithful step. This is not about forgetting our history, but about honoring it by making sure our mission continues to thrive for generations to come.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Name Change:

Why are we changing our name?
Over time, we’ve discovered that our current name often creates confusion — many assume we’re a Catholic church, which we are not. This confusion keeps some people from visiting or staying. More importantly, we sense God calling us to reach our community in fresh ways, and a new name better reflects who we are and the mission He’s given us.

Is this just a marketing move?
No. This is not about trendy branding or distancing ourselves from our history. This is a spiritual and strategic step to remove barriers, clarify our identity, and invite more people to experience the hope and transformation we’ve found in Jesus.

How did this decision come about?
Pastor Mark first sought blessing and permission from Pastor Tim and Pastor Jackie, who both offered strong support. Then, our staff shared their input and agreed it was needed. Finally, our board and finance team prayed and discerned together — and all affirmed this is the right step forward.

What will happen to our history and values?
Our mission, beliefs, and core values will remain the same — if anything, this step honors our past by helping us carry our vision into the future. We are not erasing our story; we are stewarding it for the next generation.

When will the new name be announced?
We’re taking each step with care and prayer. Between now and July 6th, we invite you to submit any name ideas the Lord places on your heart. In mid-July, a team made up of board members, staff, and congregation representatives will come together to pray and discern the best choice from the submitted names. We’re planning for a soft launch of the new name in September—and until then, we welcome your prayers, questions, and input as we walk this journey together.

How can I share feedback or ask more questions?
We want to hear from you! You can reach out to Pastor Mark, any staff member, or a board member directly.

How can I help?
Pray with us! Pray for wisdom, unity, and open hearts in our community. When the time comes, help spread the word about the new name and the fresh season God is leading us into.
