| why it's important what should I write in there? tracking prayer requests
I am a great believer in Journallng. It took me some time to get onboard with it, but once I set aside time and effort, it has proved to be a lifeline, an encouragement and a way of communicating with God that has been life changing.
It helps to set aside some time in which to write. I found that if I start my day with a devotion and write down what I am getting from it...in my own words,...what God is saying to me through that devotion, then it can springboard into personal interspective writing and then flow into prayer.
I have found too, that if I am upset, worried or even angry...if I write all that I feel out in words, I can express myself and be honest. As that progresses for however long, I come to a place where I have emptied all the frustrations etc. and peace has resulted without my having to involve anyone other than God. He is good at keeping my secrets and I can be totally honest without fear of hurting feelings or being misunderstood.
Have you found that when you vent to people that you feel even more wound up inside? It seems to feed on itself. Venting to God gets all those stuffed feelings out, but they won't be used against you... I remember one time, writing for pages and pages and at the end I took a deep breath (involuntarily) and realized I was calm and collected and much more in control of the situation. I found too that God had gently had an imput into my thinking that wasn't there when I first started...that was inspiring too! He really does care about my everyday situations...
Communication with God in writing prayers It helps keep me much more focused when I write them. My mind doesn't wander off, and more often than not, when I ask a question, I have found that an answer soon follows. I have a much better understanding of God's interest in my life as it becomes much more of a personal interaction.
There is also a record of prayer requests that can be looked back on and when answers have developed, it shows record of His faithfulness.
If anyone else would like to add to this...please feel free
